KINEMASTIK INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 2025
It is 2025, Kinemastik has come of age, and this edition will see our last dance at the Garden of Rest in Floriana, before finding our own way in the world, to a new venue… but for now, let’s gather, watch, dance. For 21 years, we focus solely on 21 films being shown on one screen. We had to jump into the deep, murky waters to fish out glistening nuggets, we hope you will enjoy some, loathe others, and vote.
Tickets cost €18.00. Once we’ve fixed the ghosts in our machine you can get tickets online
Doors open 19:30 on Friday 25th and Saturday the 26th of July.
We look forward to welcoming you the beautiful gardens for a relaxing sundown. Bar will be open, and we’ll curate a soundtrack for you to end the week the right way.
20:45-21:00 Let the films commence.
We’ll have roughly two halves of 65mins of a carefully selected film programme.
Following the films we’re excited to introduce you to Hunters Palace, followed by guest DJ Ali (Brighton), a long time Kinemastik family member.
We’d like to advise you to save some energy for Saturday but …
Saturday is Les Nuits Cosmiques – first up will be a live set from Danalogue, founding member and producer of The Comet is Coming and Soccer96, who will weave hypnotic analogue synths, pulsating drum machine, and cosmic textures into an electrifying live experience.
Multi-instrumentalist, producer and engineer Capitol K (aka Kristian Craig Robinson) will be previewing material from his forthcoming milestone 10th album ‘Artichoke’, a return to the off-kilter vocal electronica he ruled in the pre-to-post-millennial era.
Cherrie Flava b2b with Suncut – Cherrie Flava is a DJ, label founder, collector and trusted selector shaped by London’s sound system culture, pirate radio, and the city’s underground record shop circuit. Cutting her teeth at London music emporium Sounds of the Universe, and later shaping tastes as A&R at Soul Jazz Records, she developed a sharp curatorial ear rooted in Black music and rhythm-led club culture.
Dean Wengrow, consistently brings emotive frequencies to Malta’s dance floors through his Les Nuits Cosmiques parties, playing genre hopping DJ sets taking in everything from italo-disco, funk electro to hypnotic techno and dubstep.
Karl Baldacchino’s sunset set expect nothing less than a wide-ranging selection of tracks from across Europe, North Africa and elsewhere.
