German collective Filmgruppe Chaos was founded in 1975 for Super-8 filmmakers. The group has produced short experimental and animation films, as well as a documentaries and feature films. The collective continues to put out work, with new feature films recently released as 16mm prints. A collection of DVDs will be released soon.

The group supports true underground and independent filmmaking; spreading information, lending out equipment, offering workshops and organising small film screenings, as setting up film festivals. They often collaborate with musicians and DJs. Filmgruppe Chaos has provided projections for live gigs, dance events and big open-air festivals.

Despite our limited budget, Filmgruppe Chaos agreed to come to Malta for a Filmgruppe Chaos extravaganza weekend, providing insight at screenings and workshops in Malta and Gozo.
